The second family has 3 Adults and 1 Child and their total ticket cost is £353.
How much would it cost for two adults to attend the same concert?
Suggestions:
This question works well to consolidate simultaneous equation skills, and also prepares students for interpretation of worded algebra questions. Students take 3-4 minutes to answer this question in full, and it often leads nicely into teaching simultaneous equations with a quadratic.
Teachers could extend the learning by considering:
- Another family with 2 Adults and 3 Children wants to attend the concert at a different location on the tour. At this new venue, adult ticket prices increase by 10% and children ticket prices decrease by 10%. How much will their tickets cost in total?
